Member Alert: Fraudulent Text & Phone Call Scam

We have been made aware of a text message and phone call scam that is impersonating local financial institutions.

The text message or phone call spoofs your real financial institution’s phone number and states there is a declined charge on a debit card that was flagged as fraud. After confirming you did not make the charge, the scammer calls and says they are with your financial institution’s fraud department and asks for login information for online banking, debit card number (either full or last 7-8 digits), one-time passcodes, and other sensitive information about your account to stop the fraud.

If Revity suspects a fraudulent purchase on your debit card, you will receive a phone call from a Revity FCU Team Member or our automated service (which may come from an out-of-state area code, usually 402). You will then be asked to verify multiple recent purchases on your account. You will not be asked for any usernames, passwords, PIN numbers, email accounts, social security numbers, one-time passcodes, or full debit card numbers during this phone call.

If you have received this text, please delete it and do not engage with it. If you receive a phone call, hang up and call us immediately at 336-373-2090. If you have clicked a link or called back, please let us know ASAP.

Here are a few good tips to remember when you suspect something might be a scam:

  • Do not EVER give out your username, password, PIN number, SSN, one time passcodes, or full debit card number. We will never ask you for these! We may ask you to verify some out-of-wallet information but will not ask for these things. Tip: ask us about putting a code word on your account! This code word will be our way to identify you when you call us concerning your account instead of out-of-wallet questions.
  • Do not call any numbers given or click on any links. Call us directly at 336-373-2090 and inquire about the text or phone call. We will be happy to look into it for you.
  • Setting up Card Alerts on GoRevity! Mobile App can alert you immediately to any purchases or ATM withdrawals—allowing you to switch your card off and stop fraud immediately.
