Overdraft Protection
What is Overdraft Protection?
Overdraft Protection is an opt-in service that transfers money from your Savings (or other designated account) to your Checking in the event that you cannot cover a check or debit charge with your current balance. Overdraft Protection can be used up to 6 times a month, and there is a $4.00 Overdraft Protection fee charged each time this service is used. See current fee schedule.
Overdraft Protection will not take your account below $0. You can use Courtesy Pay and Overdraft Protection together for additional account protection up to $500.00.
What are the benefits of Overdraft Protection?
- Prevents declined debit card transactions
- Allows you to avoid returned check fees from companies you pay
- Spares your reputation from the hit of bouncing a check
- Protects you from losing vital services like water, gas, or power due to non-payment or NSF (Non-sufficient funds) checks
Who is eligible for Overdraft Protection?
Members who have a checking account with Revity FCU can opt in to Overdraft Protection.
How do I opt-in or opt-out of Overdraft Protection?
You can opt-in or opt-out anytime using the Overdraft Protection & Courtesy Pay form in Online Banking under the “Member Services” tab or in the GoRevity! Mobile App on the “More” menu to send it to us electronically. You can also come in to any Revity FCU branch or call us at 336-373-2090 for assistance.
Courtesy Pay
What is Courtesy Pay?
Courtesy Pay is provided as a convenience to our members and allows us, at our discretion, to pay certain transactions when your Checking balance is insufficient, or when you do not have available funds in your savings to cover the overdraft. If we pay an item through Courtesy Pay, your account may become overdrawn up to a maximum of $500.00 and a $25.00 Courtesy Pay fee will be charged for each item. See current fee schedule.
Courtesy Pay is automatically established on all eligible accounts and you will need to opt out if you do not want this service.
Courtesy Pay works with Overdraft Protection as a backup if funds are not available. If you are not currently set up for Overdraft Protection, see below for how to opt-in to this service.
OPTIONAL COVERAGE: Courtesy Pay will not automatically apply to ATM withdrawals or one-time debit card purchases unless you opt-in to coverage. If you have not opted in to ATM Withdrawals and one-time debit card transaction coverage, we will not allow these to go through in the event your account does not have available funds to cover your transaction.
What are the benefits of Courtesy Pay?
- Offers an extra layer to cover unplanned expenses
- Avoids disruption in payment schedules or unplanned lapses in services like utilities
- Helps maintain a healthy financial image by preventing returned checks or debit card declines at the checkout
Who is eligible for Courtesy Pay?
- Must have Revity FCU Checking Account for the minimum waiting period of 31 days
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have ACH deposits of a minimum of $500/month (cumulative)
- Must maintain a current mailing address
- Account cannot be dormant
- Member is not in default on any loan or other obligation to the credit union
- Member is not subject to any legal or administrative order or levy
- Courtesy Pay is permitted on only one checking account per membership
What does Courtesy Pay cover?
- ACH Transactions
- Checks
- On-Us Checks at the Teller Counter (account review required)
- Recurring Debit Card Transactions
- Optional Opt-In: ATM Transactions
- Optional Opt-In: One-Time Debit Card Transactions
What if my account goes negative?
You will not lose Courtesy Pay unless the account remains negative for 21 days. The account must come to a positive balance and remain at a positive balance for 24 hours during this time to maintain Courtesy Pay. If the account remains negative for more than 21 days, Courtesy Pay will be automatically removed and will reinstate once the account balance has become positive and remains positive for 24 hours.
How do I opt-out of Courtesy Pay and/or Opt-In to the additional ATM/Debit Card Coverage?
