We have been made aware of a text message and phone call scam that is impersonating local financial institutions.
The text message states there is a declined charge on a debit card and your financial institution would like to know if it’s fraud. After confirming they did not make the charge, the scammer calls and says they are with your financial institution’s fraud department and asks for login information for online banking.
If Revity suspects a fraudulent purchase on your debit card, you will receive a phone call from a Revity FCU Team Member or our automated service (which may come from an out-of-state area code, usually 402). You will then be asked to verify recent purchases on your account. You will not be asked for any usernames, passwords, PIN numbers, email accounts, social security numbers, one-time passcodes, or full debit card numbers during this phone call.
If you have received this text, please delete it and do not engage with it. If you have clicked a link or called back, please let us know.
Here are a few good tips to remember when you suspect something might be a scam:
- Do not EVER give out your username, password, PIN number, SSN, one time passcodes, or full debit card number. We will never ask you for these! We may ask you to verify some out-of-wallet information but will not ask for these things.
- Do not call any numbers given or click on any links. Call us directly at 336-373-2090 and inquire about the text or phone call. We will be happy to look into it for you.
